Feline Friends is a network of dedicated community volunteers who work together to rescue and rehome cats and kittens in need, and to coordinate Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) spays and neuters to reduce the feral/barn cat population.

HISTORY
Feline Canine Friends, Inc. was founded in 1989 by Marie Valentino, a retired school teacher, in Grand Marsh, WI. The shelter provided a home for primarily abandoned, unwanted pets with an emphasis on special-needs animals. In 2014 the shelter expanded, purchasing a larger facility and moved to Westfield, WI.

In 2011, Feline Canine Friends became an adoption partner with Petco in Plover, WI. In 2023, we also became an adoption partner with Petsmart in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. These partnerships have become instrumental in finding adoptive, loving homes for 300+ cats per year!

Feline Canine Friends added on a surgery suite to the shelter in 2020. We now have a dedicated veterinarian who donates her time to provide low-cost and affordable TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return) spay/neuter surgeries to our rural community. In 2024, a full-time veterinary assistant was hired to assist with our spay/neuter surgeries and care for our shelter cats.

In fall 2025, we updated our name to be Feline Friends, as our primary focus is helping cats and kittens in the communities we serve. Our focus at this time is providing affordable spay/neuter services at our surgery center in Westfield, WI to help our rural population with feral, unwanted and abandoned cats, and to rescue and rehome cats and kittens in need.

All of our adoptable cats and kittens receive care from board-certified veterinarians, veterinary technicians and loving volunteers. Each kitty is spayed/neutered, receives age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper and rabies), deworming,
flea prevention, FIV/Feline Leukemia testing, and microchip before they are adopted into loving forever homes!

MISSION

The mission of Feline/Canine Friends is to help our community reduce their feral cat population by trap neuter and returning these animals (TNR), providing low cost spay and neuter opportunities, providing education about animal care and welfare, and providing care and housing for special-needs and difficult to place cats.
